Ben Tre province has been successfully attracting investment from various countries in Asia, especially Thailand, which has expressed keen interest in developing textile and apparel related projects.
So far, Thailand investors have been operating several plants in the province to provide products to their giant clients like Adidas, Nike and Puma. Besides, these businesses are also revealed plans for further investments in the province.
Late last month, a Thai delegation proposed Ben Tre People's Committee to set up a US $15 million plant, which will manufacture textile materials for their own production as well as supply to other local enterprises.
Another investor has applied to build a packaging plant for Thailand's apparel and footwear companies.
