In the past five years, the export quantity of Chinese underwear has increased 17.83 percent each year while the export value has risen by 23.40 percent.
However, in the first five months of this year, Chinese underwear's export quantity rose by just 4.897 percent while its value inched up by 11.67 percent.
Though Chinese under wears are exported to over 200 countries, Japan, EU and the US remain its main export markets.
In the first five months of this year, China exported 790 million pieces of underwear to Japan, down 1.57 percent than the same period last year. The value of the exported goods was US $1.866 billion, down 1.32 percent; however, the average price was $2.36 a piece, up 0.26 percent.
As far as the European market is concerned, the export of Chinese underwear to Germany went up sharply. In the first five months of 2007, China exported 207 million pieces to Germany, up 42.58 percent than the same period in 2006. The export price was $1.56, up 8.56 percent.
The export value of Chinese bras rose 112.64 percent in 2006; but, in the first five months of this year, the export value went down by 5.72 percent.
