Recently, a meeting was organized by the Sports Equipments Center of Chinese Sports Administration and Shanghai Clothing Research Academy to approve a Clothing Standardization Committee, which would set standards for special sports clothing.

Big sports brands like Lining Company attended the meeting and it is estimated that these standards will be formally carried out in 2008.

So far, the country does not have any set standards for the production and sale of special sports clothing and thus product quality can not be efficiently controlled, consequently customer complaints remained unsolved.

After the implementation of these standards, companies must meet the required norms. According to some experts, big sports-goods brands can meet these standards. However, it would be difficult for small and middle-size enterprises to come up to the mark, as firstly, the production cost would go up in order to reach this standard. Secondly, smaller companies which keep a lower profit in order to sustain in the market, would face difficulty as a result, many enterprises would be closed down.
