Visakhapatnam to be new global apparel supply chain hub

Plans are also underway to branch out to other global customers. Their brand new permanent home at BIAC premises is scheduled to commence commercial production by February 2008. This state of the art facility is expected to employ over 3000 employees at full capacity.

Brandix Apparel India has also set up a world class training center at Pendurthi where local women received training on advanced apparel production techniques. The training center has now become the primary source to train the future workforce, and is capable of educating 400 personnel at any given time.

This number is expected to increase significantly once a larger purpose built facility is set up at BIAC. Already more than 800 (eight hundred) locals have completed their training and are now fully engaged in commercial production.

Brandix India Apparel City has reached out beyond the boundaries of corporate growth to offer sustainable livelihood and social development to the local villages.

BIAC has also embarked on CSR projects such as distribution of school books to local children With infrastructure development in full swing, BIAC will provide “Real Time Connectivity and Seamless Integration' combined with economies of scale to supply chain partners, bringing in a total combined investment of USD 1 Billion.

Once fully operational, BIAC will export apparel worth more than USD 1.4 billion. Speaking to the media Mr. Reshan Wicramasinha, CEO Brandix IndiaApparel City said, “Brandix Apparel City in Visakhapatnam will be one of the largest, most advanced and vertically integrated Supply Chain Cities in the world. At its end state BIAC will create over 60,000 jobs for the local people.

BIAC offers a seamless single window process coupled with world-class plug & play infrastructure facilities. These include state-of-the-art water treatment plants, storm water disposal systems, effluent treatment plants and waste disposal systems etc. built to international specifications.

With all infrastructure development progressing as per schedule, BIAC will serve as a catalyst for the development of the regional economy, and has set the stage for Visakhapatnam to be the new global apparel supply chain hub.
