The Thailand apparel industry has exported goods worth US$ 559.58 million in first two months of 2008. This translates to a growth of 7.58% compared with same period of 2007. January accounted for US$ 275.09 million and February US$ 284.76.
The US market accounted for lion's share of exports totaling US$ 271.91 million followed by the EU with US$ 162 million with growth rates of 2.88% and 17.39% respectively in the first 2 months of 2008.
Exports to Japan and Asean countries were US$ 34.25 and 11.60 million respectively. Major markets accounted for US$ 479.76 million with other countries contributing US$ 79.82 million.
Garments took the major share with US$ 492.40 million of total exports in first two months of 2008 with innerwear, stockings and socks contributing the rest.
Exports of apparels have registered positive growth after two years of consecutive negative growth rates.
