Coro New York Leadership Center to honour Syms CEO

Marcy Syms, CEO of SYMS Corp will be awarded the Lewis Rudin Medal for Civic Leadership on May 21, 2008 at the Coro New York Leadership Center's Annual Gala Dinner.
The Rudin Medal is bestowed upon New Yorkers who have made outstanding contributions to civic life in the five boroughs who have focused on tackling some of the city's and nation's most significant challenges, demonstrating innovative and collaborative approaches to problem solving.
"Marcy Syms epitomizes the spirit of the Rudin Medal," says Jonathan Plutzik, Board Chairman of the Coro New York Leadership Center.
"She has been one of New York's most dynamic leaders in both the private and public sectors for many years, to the benefit of countless New York students, patients, citizens and educated consumers! We are delighted to be able to award her with this honor."
"In running a business dedicated to surviving and thriving in good times and bad with the highest integrity, I have learned how to put the welfare of our customers first in every instance," says Ms. Syms. "Sometimes that means having the courage to stand up for what you have built, and what you believe in.
"My family and I are committed to encouraging entrepreneurship, honor, excellence and leadership in students across the area. I am deeply moved to receive this honor from Coro, an organization I hold in such high regard."
Ms. Syms' fellow honorees are Carla A. Harris, Managing Director of Morgan Stanley; Bill T. Jones, Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company; and Danny Meyer, President of the Union Square Hospitality Group.
