Pantaloon Retail adds communication products in its portfolio

Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited, the country's leading retailer today announced the setting up of a new retail division – Communication Products, to offer communication solutions via products and services. The company has appointed senior telecom professional Mr. Neeran Chhiber as CEO & President, Communication Products. This is the first time an Indian retailer is offering consumers bundled communication solutions under one roof.

The company through this new division will offer Products like mobile phones, landline instruments, computers, peripherals and Services like mobile airtime, broadband, etc., to its customers. The new division will be represented through independent stores as well as a part of Centrals and Big Bazaars.

Commenting on this new initiative, Mr. Kishore Biyani, MD, Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited said, “India is one of the fastest growing regions for both communication services as well as equipment. Communication needs today represent 6% of consumer spends and we would like to capture this part of the consumer's basket by offering them a one-stop shop for bundled & complete communication solutions via this new venture”.

The President & CEO, Communication Products Mr. Neeran Chibber is a telecom professional with over decades of rich and varied work experience. Prior to taking up this responsibility, he was associated with Bharti Enterprises (Airtel) based in Seychelles holding a dual position of CEO Telecom Seychelles Ltd., and Executive Director of Barbarons Beach Hotel Ltd. He was responsible for developing strategies for providing mobile, fixed line and international telephony solutions and establishing the luxury resort managed by Le Meridien.
