Apparel companies to hike export prices

Rising labour and raw-material costs has forced Chinese clothing manufacturers to consider raising export price significantly.

It has been reported that of the 93 percent of apparel companies taking this step, about 55 percent plan 5 to 10 percent price increase.

Besides, 21 percent of the players plan around 5 percent rise and 10 percent of enterprises are considering 10-15 percent hike.

Meanwhile, 14 percent of the manufacturers may raise product rates by over 15 percent.

Experts believe that the competition in international market is becoming tougher by the day, thus adding to the already burdened Chinese textile industry.

The impact of RMB appreciation, high production cost and strained global market is expected to be severe on the SMEs.
