According to data released by the Customs, in the month of June, imports of woolen garments reached around 178,700 pieces. This shows an increase of 45,400 pieces or 34.03 percent from the previous month and a year-on-year growth of 40.42 percent.
June import value of woolen apparel reached nearly US $12.942 million, a rise of around $5.873 million when compared to same period of last year, experiencing annual hike of 83.07 percent. June average import price came around $72.43 per piece, up by $16.88 per garment from the same time of 2007 and $18.84 higher than May.
From January to June 2008, China imported nearly 754,000 pieces of cloths made from wool, witnessing a year-on-year boost of 9.68 percent. Total import value for the same was approximately $48.039 million, representing a substantial annual growth of 58.95 percent.
In the first half of this year, China's average import price of woolen garments was around $63.71 per piece. This showcases a considerable boost of 44.93 percent when compared to similar period previous year.
