Filson, the respected outdoor brand known for its American outdoor heritage and prominence in the hunting and fishing communities, opens its third U.S. retail location in Portland, Oregon's vibrant Pearl District. The 2,400 square-foot space in the historic Confectionery Building joins Filson's first store in Seattle, where the company was founded, and a store in downtown Denver.

“The Filson brand is resonating with American consumers especially now in a challenging economy because of its functionality and durability,” said Bill Kulczycki, president and CEO of Filson. “Consumers, especially in Portland, appreciate the excellent quality designed to withstand Portland's ever-changing climate. Filson already has a strong base of loyal consumers in Portland, which has been an important part of the company's growth. This new venue enables us to invite more outdoor devotees to experience the brand first hand. We are pleased to become part of the Portland community.”

The store will carry Filson's iconic Tin Cloth, Shelter Cloth and Mackinaw wool pieces. Products include: outerwear, hunting and fishing lines, sweaters, shirts, pants, base layers, footwear, luggage, Filson dog, Filson home and accessories. Many of the pieces have been in the line since the company's founding over 111 years ago. The New York Times, which featured a story on utilitarian apparel last month, recognized Filson's garments as classic pieces that have stood the test of time and paid tribute to the brand's quality and authenticity.

Filson is committed to the community of Portland, working closely with WaterWatch of Oregon, (www.waterwatch.org), which protects and restores natural streamflows in Oregon rivers. In addition, Filson is working with the local chapters of Ducks Unlimited and the Audubon Society of Portland.

“As a loyal Filson customer for over a decade, I have come to rely on Filson's longstanding commitment to quality and performance,” said Judith O'Keefe of the Filson Women's Council, who lives in Powell Butte, Oregon. “Filson listens to its customers and incorporates our feedback as evident in the recently launched Women's line.”

Filson's Portland store will also feature custom quality furniture, cabinetry and store fixtures, designed and produced by Mt. Jefferson Furniture Company, based in Salem, Oregon. Mt. Jefferson Furniture Co. also designed furniture and fixtures for Filson's Seattle and Denver stores.

Filson, a leading outfitter for outdoor enthusiasts, is committed to providing the highest performance apparel that stands up to the toughest conditions. The company's 111 year legacy is built upon its reputation for honesty, quality and durability. The brand's tough yet comfortable outdoor clothing is a favorite among hunters and fishermen, engineers and explorers, mariners and miners, and anyone who has a passion for the outdoors. Renowned for proprietary fabrics such as heavyweight Tin Cloth and warm, rugged Mackinaw Wool, Filson's quality apparel and accessories have made it a trans-generational brand.
