Qingdao Customs statistics show that textiles and garments exported via Shandong ports totaled US $14.36 billion in the first 11 months of 2008, up 13.9 percent from the same time of 2007.
China has increased export tax rebate rate on part of textiles and garment since mid-year, which has stimulated growth of textile exports. Exports in November registered $1.34 billion, up 12.1 percent year-on-yea and up 3.8 percent from October, with the growth rate higher by 6.3 percent than in October.
In the period under review, textile and apparel exports in form of general trade via Shandong ports reached $8.430 billion, up 22.2 percent, while processing trade exports in the same period touched $5.810 billion, an increase of 3.2 percent.
In the same period, shipments from the industry via Shandong ports to the EU were $2.42 billion, up 31.7 percent; to the United States $2.15 billion, slightly up 3 percent; Japan $3.470 billion, an increase of 13.8 percent and which cumulatively accounted for 24.2 percent of total textile and garment exports.
Shipments from the textile sector ascended by 16.5 percent to reach $7.280 billion and which was 5.3 percentage points higher than growth rate of apparel exports over the same period when compared with the same period in 2007.
