The premier clothing export body, Apparel Exporters Promotion Council (AEPC) has been made liable to provide information under the 'Right to Information' (RTI) act by the Central Information Commission (CIC).
The CIC held that since AEPC was sponsored by different Union Ministries and four nominees were from the government and was funded directly or indirectly to the tune of 74 percent of its expenditure, it was liable to provide information.
This ruling was given by the Information Commissioner, Mr Ansari on the basis of a plea filed by a petitioner who wanted some relevant information from the AEPC.
