THE NEED OF THE HOUR
Diversification from cotton-based knitwear products to apparels made of man-made fibers is the need of hour for the Tirupur garment Exporter to ensure themselves round-the–year business. Heavy dependency on cotton-based knitwear products, as at the moment, would restrict the export opportunities of businessmen to a very small segment of the market.With more use of synthetic fabrics, the manufacturers will be able to come out with a wider range of artifacts including winter wears and swim wears, among others, thereby giving value addition to their portfolio.
The cotton knitted garments exported from Tirupur catered only to the summer season clothing needs. The remaining nine months is Winter. We are unable to supply winter season clothing because of non-availability of the right kind of synthetic fiber and lack of technology for processing the special fibers.Despite the huge market potential, we are not able to cater to the winter period.
To overcome this problem and to increase the total garments export via synthetic garments, the industry requires synthetic fibers/yarns/fabric at competitive rates. The Government has to support this project by funding the machinery used in the manufacture of synthetic garments, initially and later extend support by setting a deign studio.
INDIA KNIT FAIR (IKF)
The participants and visitors are in a growing trend since the inception of this Knit Fair.. This is evident from its survival for the past 28 fairs. The lion's walk takes with pride to its 29th IKF edition, which will also draw more Buyers/Buying agents from all over the world. It is understood from the feedback obtained from the participants that every Buyers visiting the Fair fetch them with good business, in other words, the visitors are serious Buyers. This time the responses from overseas Buyers/Buying Agents for their confirmation to visit the Fair are very much encouraging.
THE 29th Edition of India Knit Fair will be held from 7 – 9 OCTOBER, 2009 in the fully air-conditioned sprawling and exclusive halls of IKFA Complex, Tirupur.The theme of this three day event is Autumn/Winter/Mid-Summer Collection 2010.
