The government formed a task force committee to suggest ways and means to fight the recessionary trends and increase exports from the country. It will headed by the former finance minister, M Saiduzzaman.
Mr Saiduzzaman, who is also Chairman of Credit Rating Agencies of Bangladesh, will propose the necessary measures needed to develop the overall export potential, especially in the woven, knitwear and textile sectors, in the post-recession period.
The committee, will also suggest appropriate measures to improve the state of enterprises in poor condition and will submit its report, within one month. Presidents of major trade bodies too, have been included in the committee.
In April, the government had announced a stimulus package of Tk 3,424 crore, but had excluded the highest contributor altogether, to which RMG trade bodies had raised a hue and cry after which a revised Tk 5,000 package was declared.
Commenting on the committee, Mr Muthith, the finance minister said, “A decision was made to form a working committee within days to figure out the amount and manner of allocation and aid will be provided in line with its recommendations."
