The Ministry of Labour is planning to call a meeting with representatives and the management of the Tack Fat garment factory, in a bid to solve the deadlock over an ongoing pay dispute.
The workers are demanding pay for the period the factory will be closed. The Tack Fat garment factory shutdown without prior notice on October 8, citing shortfall in orders as reason for the closure.
Nearly 1,800 workers from the closed factory held a rally in front of the Prime Ministers office, after failing in an attempt to solve the issue, in a meeting with officials of Ministry of Social Affairs.
Despite the fact that the factory has announced only a two months closure, workers do not expect the factory to restart again and are demanding of being relieved from their contracts.
