Chinese aid sought for textile, garments industry

The visiting member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Zhang Dejiang, was requested by Speaker Jose de Venecia yesterday to help rebuild the Philippines' garments and textile industry that earned precious foreign currency not long back.

De Venecia hailed the giant economic strides taken by Guangdong as one of China's major growth centers in Referring to Guangdong as China's gateway to the ASEAN—and it is ASEAN's gateway to China, De Vencia added that the province uplifted 400 million Chinese to middle-class status in the last two decades ushering biggest social and economic transformation in modern times, there.
