Nearly 100 employees of 'Lejaby' are protesting against shut down of three of its manufacturing plants in France and a potential loss of 197 jobs and have forcibly occupied the company's Head Quarters in Rillieux-la-Pape, near Lyon.

Lejaby is a French lingerie manufacturer. The management's attempts to relocate more of its output to foreign countries in order to cut costs resulted in closure of its plants which was formerly announced in April 2010 and conformed a few days back.

The protesters demanded the merger of two of the three plants that are supposed to be closed, to save some jobs. They also demanded a severance bonus of €70,000 for redundant workers and that wages should be paid till the time these employees receive training for newer jobs.

Lejaby, which was established in the year 1930, was sold by US group Warnaco in 2008 to Austria's Palmers Textil AG for €45 million (US $59 million).
