The Centurion University of Technology is about to establish an apparel unit in its JITM campus with 100-sewing machines and a capacity of producing 1,500 shirts per day. Dr Mukti Mishra and Prof DN Rao – promoters of the Centurion Group made this announcement at a press conference held recently at Parlakhemundi.

According to Dr Mishra, the unit is a part of the Centurion Group's plan to enhance training as well as placement facilities to the SC and ST women who had failed to complete their schooling.

The National Skill Development Corporation has already provided its support to the group in improving the quality of the training that is being imparted to enhance employment opportunities. The group is endorsing this project under the brand name of Gram Tarang. The training will be imparted in a shed having an area of 15,000 sqft.

The unit will serve as a training as well as production centre. It is expected to provide training to 300 people every month under the special SGSY program. The unit is likely to provide employment to 300 workers who will acquire the training also. It will also impart training to another 100 trainees in packing as well as other related works.
