Berghaus continues its focus on 'performance lightweight' for the autumn/winter 2011 season. That drive is reflected throughout the clothing, footwear and equipment that features in all categories – from Extrem, Mountain and Trail Sports through to Trail and Everyday Outdoors. The season also sees the introduction of the latest products from Berghaus' dedicated innovation programme, MtnHaus.

Range Highlights

Extrem and MtnHaus
For autumn/winter 2011, Berghaus has added some cutting edge insulation to its Extrem range, in four developments that have emerged from MtnHaus. The Magma Down jacket combines Pertex Endurance, Primaloft One and hydrophobic goose down in a jacket designed to withstand extreme weather conditions.

More water resistant than traditional down, hydrophobic goose down incorporates an innovative water resistant treatment. As a result it dries more quickly and while it is wet, the hydrophobic down has better thermal properties than traditional down, along with a great warmth to weight ratio. The hydrophobic down is also used in the men's and women's Mount Asgard Hybrid jackets, combining with Primaloft One and Pertex Quantum to create high performance lightweight duvets.

The final MtnHaus product for the season is the Yeti Extrem Pro Insulated. With a similar specification to the Yeti Extrem Pro that made its debut in spring/summer 2011, the insulated Yeti incorporates high performance Primaloft One to offer great durable warmth in cold conditions.

Another major development in Extrem is Gore-Tex Active Shell, an exciting new fabric for fast moving serious alpinists. Berghaus has been working with WL Gore for over 30 years and once again this close partnership has allowed the company to incorporate the latest technology into a genuinely cutting edge range of jackets and pants, including the men's and women's Velum jackets and the Velum smock. Thanks to a lighter, thinner membrane and new lamination technology, Active Shell is the most breathable Gore-Tex fabric ever, ideal for all weather, fast moving outdoor activists.

Trail
Trail is Berghaus' definitive range of core outdoor products for walkers. For autumn/winter 2011, Trail is enhanced by a new Berghaus and WL Gore development. At the heart of the collection are men's and women's jackets and pants made out of 2L Gore-Tex Performance Shell fabrics. Fully featured, high performance products for all seasons, the new lines offer a combination of classic and contemporary styles that hit key price points and represent a great commercial opportunity for retailers.

Trail Sports
While Trail caters for walkers, Trail Sports increases the tempo. This relatively new category is one of Berghaus' most dynamic and a perfect showcase for products that epitomise the performance lightweight mantra. For the last few years, Berghaus has been working closely with Team Orion from New Zealand, twice crowned adventure racing world champions, who have helped to develop some really high performance kit. And more recently, Frenchman Philippe Gatta has also joined the team.
