Phone-influenced apparel purchases to rise by 2022: report
Mobile phone-focussed marketing will influence seven out of 10 fashion accessory purchases in India in 2022, creating a $110 billion sales opportunity by then, according to a recent report by Facebook and KPMG. Higher use of mobile phones in the media mix can help create about $14 billion worth of potential revenue for fashion brands by 2022, it said.

Marketing initiatives driven via the mobile platform are likely to influence two in three apparel purchases, amounting to $66 billion opportunity for brands, a news agency reported citing the Facebook-KPMG document.

The apparel and accessory market in India is projected to reach $102 billion and $155 billion individually by 2022, said Facebook India Director Pulkit Trivedi.

The aim of the report is to help fashion brands adopt relevant marketing strategies and reduce friction in consumer journeys across multiple touch-points, he added. (DS)
