Sourcemap, a platform for supply chain transparency and traceability, is collaborating with Common Objective (CO), a B2B sustainability-focused information and sourcing network, to help brands attain supply chain transparency. This will help over 20,000 of Common Objective’s users map their supply chain digitally through Sourcemap’s open-source technology.

Common Objective’s users to benefit from the partnership include fashion and supply chain professionals from over 130 countries.

Transparency is one of the greatest challenges that currently faces the fashion industry. Without it, brands can make very little meaningful progress on their sustainable and ethical business practices. The industry is quickly waking up to its importance - with 81 per cent of brands working towards tracing where their fabrics come from - but the expertise and the tools that will enable businesses to achieve supply chain transparency are not yet widely available - with only 37 per cent of brands successfully publishing their tier I suppliers.

It is this disconnect that Common Objective and Sourcemap hope to solve with their partnership.

Juliette Barre, director of Marketing at Sourcemap, says “Transparency and traceability in fashion is a huge challenge. Organisations like Common Objective and Sourcemap make it possible to improve production practices and engage customers on that journey. As a leader in connecting brands to suppliers around sustainable fashion Common Objective brings the right kind of visibility to Sourcemap and its customers.”

Sourcemap's pioneering technology is transforming the way that brands such as Vans, Timberland, and The North Face communicate about their products through radical supply chain transparency. By joining forces with Common Objective, the largest sustainability-focused database of brands and suppliers worldwide, the two organisations will empower and enable designers and brands to achieve supply chain transparency and gain the trust of consumers.

“Transparency is fundamental to the CO platform,” says Qiulae Wong, head of Product and co-founder. “Through our platform brands and suppliers alike publish key information about their expertise, capacity, and sustainability practices. Integrating Sourcemap’s Transparency Map technology is a natural and exciting way to take this one step further.”
