Turkey apparel exports up 1.93% in Jan-April 2019

Apparel exports from Turkey increased by 1.93 per cent in the first four months of 2019, according to the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute. From January to April 2019, Turkey exported apparel worth $5.316 billion, compared to exports of $5.213 billion clocked during the first four months of 2018, the data showed.
Category-wise, exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $3 billion during the four-month period, registering same as the amount earned during the corresponding period of the previous year.
Exports of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $2.315 billion, up 4.6 per cent from $2.213 billion exports made in the same period of 2018.
Meanwhile, exports of carpets, mats and tapestries (HS chapter 57) were up 8.6 per cent to $806.711 million during the period under review. (PC)
