Category-wise, exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) earned $11.011 billion in January-December 2022, registering a growth of 2.1 per cent over $10.780 billion earned during the same months of the previous year. Exports of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $8.464 billion, showing an increase of 12.7 per cent compared to $7.513 billion exports in January-December 2021.
Meanwhile, Turkiye’s imports of cotton, cotton yarn and cotton textiles (HS chapter 52) increased by a sharp 30.3 per cent to $4.842 billion over $3.714 billion in 2021.
In December 2022, the latest month for which the data is available, Turkiye’s exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) were affected by the global economic slowdown and low demand. The shipment of non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) also noticed a negative growth of 4 per cent in the same month.
During 2021, Turkiye’s total exports of knitted and crocheted clothing and accessories (HS chapter 61) and non-knitted apparel and accessories (HS chapter 62) were valued at $18.294 billion.
