China’s Tian Yuan Garments (TY Garments) has announced it will increase its initial investment by another $10 million and will hire 400 full-time workers at the renovated facility in Little Rock, the capital of Arkansas state in the United States. It employs 160 workers now. The announcement came when governor William Asa Hutchinson II toured the new facility recently.

Tian Yuan Garments Co. Ltd is a sportswear producer for Adidas, Reebok and other brands with over 50 years of experience having facilities in China and Arkansas.

Hutchinson had announced the Tian Yuan Garments project in October 2016 during his economic trade mission to China. At the time, the company had announced it would invest $20 million for equipment, to purchase a building, and make capital improvements to the building. The additional $10 million will take the total investment to $30 million, according to an official press release from the state.

The company operates at the Port of Little Rock. At peak production, the company plans to manufacture more than four million pieces of garments annually. (DS)
