The world’s biggest footwear park will be developed at Kharkhoda in Sonepat district of India’s Haryana state, chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced recently after inaugurating a skill development and quality control centre at the footwear park in Bahadurgarh. The centre, set up at a cost of ₹25 crore, will train people in footwear manufacturing.

More than 600 plots will be allotted in the Kharkhoda footwear park that will cover 900 acres. Five acres will be allotted for a skill development centre to raise employment avenues for local residents, Indian media reports quoted Khattar as saying. (DS)
