The Iran National Carpet Center (INCC) will be organizing the 17th Hand-woven Carpet Exhibition at Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds from August 22.
Mr Javad Rezaei, Director of Fair Affairs of INCC informed Fibre2fashion, “This is a local exhibition where only Iranian artisans will participate. We have invited merchants from 35 countries across the globe including America, Europe, and Asia. This time we are expecting people from Kashmir and all the invitations were sent through Embassies of these countries.”
The exhibition will cover an area of 22000 square meter. Around 500 booths will be installed to showcase the exotic artistry of the artisans of Iran. The visitors can take pleasure of these exclusive designed carpets till August 28.
Statistics show that near about 5 million square meters of hand-woven carpets are produced in Iran annually and because of extraordinary craftsmanship these carpets are considered as the prized possessions.
Iran caters to one third of the world market demand for hand-woven carpets. In 2007, the country earned US $750 million from exports of these fine carpets, and this figure is expected to rise in the current year.
