Knitting & hosiery units inaugurated at Zainakot

Deputy Chief Minister Mr Mangat Ram Sharma inaugurated the knitting and hosiery enterprises set up under private sector at Zainakot, Srinagar, yesterday.

Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Mr Raman Matto, Principal Secretary Industries, Mr S.S. Kapoor, Managing Director Jammu and Kashmir Industries Limited, Mr Raman Soni, MD SICOP, Vice-Chairman of Khanmas group of Industries, Mr A.R. Dar besides sizeable number of entrepreneurs were present on the occasion.

The Dy Chief Minister also went round the silk reeling and weaving units established under one roof in the same complex.

He was impressed by the quality products manufactured in these units and expressed satisfaction over their functioning.
Later, addressing a gathering, the Deputy Chief minister while ensuring all possible incentives and concessions to the industrial units producing standard and quality products said that the state and the central Governments were making all out efforts to nurture the industrial sector in the state.

He said industrial and handicrafts sectors are the backbone of our economy, as such, rapid growth in these sectors is of paramount importance.

Mr Sharma said that since appreciable improvement is being felt in the overall security scenario in the state there is a pressing need to invest on large scale in the industrial sector.

He said big industrialists from outside the state have already made investments in the state which has started yielding good results and pushed up the industrial activities.
