The Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL) is set to host the Indian International Fabric Expo (IIFE) 2014 from the 14th of October in Ahmedabad, a city in western Indian state of Gujarat.

Global buyers from SAARC, Asean, African, European and American countries are expected to visit the three-day exhibition.

More than 150 Indian exhibitors are expected to display their products, including textile fabrics, denim, technical textiles, industrial fabrics, specialty fabrics, made-ups, and home textiles.

The exhibition will host fashion shows to showcase the fabric designs, and seminars to discuss the issues related to the Indian textile industry. Theme pavilions such as Gujarat Pavilion and North-East Pavilions will also be held to promote the Indian textile industry. The exhibition will facilitate networking and meetings between buyers and exhibitors, and provide direct interaction and opportunities to build long-term business relationships.

PDEXCIL is hosting the exhibition to develop and promote the exports of Indian textile products, with support from Union Ministry of Textiles and under the Market Assistant Initiative Scheme of the Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry.

Ahmedabad was chosen to host this event as it contributes to a major share of textile products in the textile manufacturing facilities in India. It has the largest processing and finishing capacity for cotton textiles in India.

PDEXCIL was set up by the Union Ministry of Textiles to develop the SME weaving sector of India, and to promote powerloom products such as, cotton fabric, made-ups, and home textiles in domestic as well as international markets.

PDEXCIL’s well-planned and extensive publicity campaigns have created a favourable market atmosphere abroad for the sale of Indian textiles. The council acts as a link between buyers and exporters to facilitate mutually-beneficial ventures.

Textile units in India are spread across areas such as Erode, Madurai, Ichalkaranji, Solapur, Bhiwandi, Malegaon, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bilwara, Doddaballapura, Gorakhpur, Komarapalayam, Ludhiana, Umargaon, Surat, Sircilla, Ranaghat, Nagari, Panipat, and Burhanpur. (GK)
