  • China launched an anti-dumping investigation on Sunday into polyformaldehyde copolymer imports from the EU, US, Japan, and Taiwan, aiming to conclude by May 19, 2025, with a potential six-month extension.
  • Polyformaldehyde, also known as POM or acetal, is used in industrial applications like mechanical gears due to its durability and performance.
On Sunday, China initiated an anti-dumping investigation into imports of polyformaldehyde copolymer from the European Union (EU), the US, Japan, and Taiwan, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The investigation, which began on Sunday, is scheduled to conclude by May 19, 2025. However, the ministry's trade remedy and investigation bureau noted in an online notice that, under special circumstances, the probe may be extended by an additional six months.

Polyformaldehyde, also known as polyoxymethylene (POM) or acetal, is a highly versatile engineering polymer widely used in various industrial applications. The copolymer variant of POM offers some advantages over the homopolymer, such as increased stability in hot water and alkalis. Some primary uses of polyformaldehyde copolymers include mechanical gears where durability, precision, and performance are crucial.
