  • ASICS has launched the GEL-NIMBUS 26, its flagship cushioned running shoe, featuring HYBRID ASICSGRIP technology for improved traction and durability.
  • The shoe boasts an engineered knit upper for a softer midfoot fit, reducing overlays and enhancing breathability.
  • It incorporates FF BLAST PLUS ECO cushioning with 24 per cent bio-based content.
ASICS has announced the launch of the GEL-NIMBUS 26 shoe; ASICS’ flagship cushioned running shoe that, thanks to its incredible comfort, is the ideal partner for long runs.

The GEL-NIMBUS 26 shoe sees a series of careful improvements made to its predecessor, the GEL-NIMBUS 25 shoe, a shoe that last year was rated as the most comfortable running shoe in an independent test, re-establishing ASICS’ position as an industry leader within the neutral cushioned shoe category.

Of these updates, among the most significant is the addition of the new HYBRID ASICSGRIP technology. This combination of ASICSGRIP and AHARPLUS outsole rubbers works to deliver better traction, improved softness, and advanced durability for the wearer, leaving them stress-free as they move their mind while out for a run, the company said in a press release.

To add further comfort, the GEL-NIMBUS 26 shoe features an improved midfoot fit thanks to an engineered knit upper and an updated construction of its eyelets to help create a softer, but more supportive midfoot hold. The upper is made from a lightweight, breathable knit material that reduces the need for additional overlays.

Just like its predecessor, the shoe benefits from FF BLAST PLUS ECO cushioning, a lightweight and energetic foam that creates cloud-like cushioning over a range of distances, made from approximately 24 per cent bio-based content from renewable sources such as leftover waste from sugar cane processing.

Other key features include ASICS’ rearfoot PureGEL technology, a material that is lighter and 65 per cent softer than conventional GEL technology, providing even softer landings. The shoe’s knit collar construction also gives the GEL-NIMBUS 26 shoe a modernised look with a luxurious step-in experience.

“We are proud to be launching a shoe that we know to be the leader within the cushioning shoe space. The GEL-NIMBUS 26 shoe offers the incredible comfort that fans would expect from this silhouette, but we have confidently refined it to enhance its grip and improve its fit, so that this model is an even better partner to help runners move their minds than the last. Importantly, we have also added CO2e labelling to the GEL-NIMBUS 26 shoe to continue educating consumers transparently on the sustainability efforts we are making,” Laura Bolgen, senior manager of global product line at ASICS, said.
