The voting for the board of management confirmed the re-election of Rick White as an independent IIC board member from Canada and elected Corinne Gensollen (France) and Volfango Bondi (Italy) as new members of the IIC board of management for a three-year term of office until 2025. Further members of the IIC board of management are Dr. Alexander von Preen (Germany) and Sami Kiiski (Finland).
Following the meeting, the IIC board of management met and appointed Corinne Gensollen as chairman. Thus, for the first time a woman will chair the IIC board of management, a clear commitment to diversity. Also Dr. Alexander von Preen’s appointment as vice chairman, enables him to work closely with Corinne Gensollen, thus allowing France and Germany, the Intersport’s two largest members, to increase cooperation for the benefit of the group, the company said in a media release.
Corinne Gensollen, newly elected chairman of the IIC board of management, stated: “In today's challenging business environment, Intersport needs a strong leadership team to further develop the omnichannel and sustainability strategy of the Group. We need to make the right decisions in order to allow each market to expand successfully under the Intersport brand. We will make sure that the Group will be even more consumer focussed, more vertical and more efficient. Intersport should always be the sport’s retail brand that is the closest to the consumer and to the industry. I am excited to take this position and to work closely with the IIC board of management, the CEOs of every country as well as the executive management.”
IIC CEO Steve Evers is pleased to work closely with Corinne Gensollen and the new board of management to prepare a new strategy to accelerate the omnichannel and sustainability transformation of the Group.
