The organisers of Asia Pacific Leather Fair (APLF) have announced that the 2021 edition of APLF-Leather, Materials+ and Fashion Access will be rescheduled from March 30-April 1, 2021, to July 5-7, 2021 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). APLF is a leading trade show where a huge range of leather and components can be found.

The decision to move the exhibition dates is in view of the ongoing COVID-19 situation which continues to impact global travel, including countries where leather and fashion products are manufactured and exported.

The decision to postpone was also made after an extensive consultation with our industry partners, associations and most importantly our exhibitors and buyers. Since APLF fairs receive international buyers and exhibitors from more than 90 countries annually, moving the exhibition to July should allow them for eased travel restrictions into Hong Kong and thus all-around better inclusion and participation, according to a press release on the show.

“APLF fairs are the platform where the global industry meets. As an event organiser, we will need to ensure the three-day event will enable the best business opportunities for buyers and sellers. As such, we had to make a difficult but proactive decision to reschedule the fair in July, to enable the best conditions for all participants. In the meantime, we will also create digital solutions to keep the connectivity and conversations between buyers and sellers strong,” Grace Lee, event director of APLF fairs said.

“I have been involved with this exhibition for 26 years now and never have I seen the world and all industries turned ‘upside down’ as it is now. Our thoughts are with all those across the fashion and leather supply chain, and who are suffering the loss of loved ones, income, work and jobs. We at APLF will work our hardest to ensure that every industry member has the best opportunity to restart and recharge their company in the coming year at APLF. All of us at APLF wish everyone reading this announcement to remain safe, healthy and keep a positive mind-set that we will beat this COVID-19 and bring the industry back to full strength,” Michael Duck, director of APLF said.

In the meanwhile, APLF will keep the community connected through our digital events. Over the last few months, they have organised more than 20 online activities and arranged one-on-one business matching between suppliers and buyers to connect the industry. APLF is also working closely with regional associations to organise curated exhibitions for the tanning sector. These events are part of a much larger and exciting project which will be announced in the near future.
