handarbeit & hobby declares final reports for h&h 2006

On Sunday 2 April 2006 the gates of the handarbeit & hobby (h&h) trade fair closed at the Cologne Exhibition Grounds after the three-day event. At this year's h&h, the largest and most international event of its kind, 203 exhibitors from 22 countries (52 percent of the exhibitors from abroad) showcased all creative requirements for wool, fabrics and other materials as well as many other indispensable products for handicrafts.

With an 11.5 percent rise in exhibitors, h&h was bigger than ever before this year. New products, a comprehensive programme of workshops and an exceptionally appealing fringe programme with numerous highlights – all under one roof. One of these was the Initiative Handarbeit e.V. fashion show presenting an array of new designs by member companies, another was the first speed knitting championships in Germany.

The design and art presentations were inspirational in many ways and contributed towards the trade fair's lively ambience. With 8,900 trade visitors, also a 10 percent rise in comparison to the previous year, h&h has lived up to its sound reputation. With this excellent result, the organiser, Messe Frankfurt Ausstellungen GmbH, has succeeded in increasing both the total number of visitors and the proportion of international visitors (visitors coming from abroad: 24 percent) for four consecutive years.

The big fashion show by Initiative Handarbeit was unquestionably a major bonus with its attractive presentation of the new Autumn/Winter 2006/2007 collections. During the trade fair, a total of some 3,000 dealers tried to get seats or standing space in order to admire the new knitting designs, fashion accessories, music and lively presentations.
