Japan-headquartered chemicals manufacturer Kuraray has announced its decision to increase the prices of Kuralon, a polyvinyl alcohol fibre (PVA), and Kuralon K-II, as well as that of polyester staple fibre, for shipments commencing January 1, 2022. The prices would increase 10 to 20 per cent for Kuralon and Kuralon K-II from their current prices.

In addition to the significant increase in the cost of key raw materials and utilities resulting from a rise in crude oil prices, Kuraray’s earnings continue to experience pressure from soaring logistics and manufacturing costs associated with increased costs for facility maintenance and renewal, which are beyond the scope of cost absorption through the company’s internal efforts, Kuraray said in a press release.

Kuraray has decided to implement the price revisions to improve profitability and to maintain a steady supply.
