Replay Jeans gives finish sans sandblasting

A new treatment technology to give the light tainted look on vintage denim without heavily impacting the environment has been developed by an Italian firm.

The new 'Laser Wash' technique introduced by Replay uses lasers to achieve the required finish without any need of water or sandblasting.

In addition to using the new technique, the company also uses ozone washing machines that need lesser quantity of water compared to conventional denim tumblers. This process has an additional benefit as the ozone that breaks down during the process gets converted and is released as oxygen.

Using the new Laser Wash treatment technology, Replay has created unique jeans based on a concept called 'contemporary vintage' that combines history with technology, Matteo Sinigaglia, CEO of Replay's parent company Fashion Box, said.

The new jeans line has been introduced in slim fit for men and skinny fit for women, in the existing Replay's price range. The Laser Wash collection is unveiled in two washes – a medium tone and a dark tone with extra gray fading.

Replay began offering denim made with organic cotton four years ago, and in 2009, it introduced pre-wash process using ozone, thus, reducing the usage of water.
