The Associacao Brasileira dos Produtores de Algodao (Brazilian Association of Cotton Producers or ABRAPA) recently took ambassadors from South Korea, Vietnam and Turkey to visit SLC Agricola´s Fazenda Pamplona farm in Goiás state’s Cristalina to show them the production system, operational standards and the fibre chain in Brazil and promote Brazilian cotton.

Goiás is the third largest cotton producing state in the country, with 27,400 hectares of planted area. SLC Agricola is one of the largest Brazilian agricultural producers founded in 1977 by the SLC Group.

ABRAPA chose the ambassadors considering the markets that have demand for Brazil's fibre and the potential for future business.

The association has been working for some time to demonstrate that the quality of Brazilian cotton is as good as that of the United States.

"It is a pleasure to show what it is like to produce cotton in Brazil. We are efficient, productive and responsible. The activity helps to strengthen ties, I think we can present a very good overview of cotton farming", said the president of Abrapa, Julio Cézar Busato, at the association's headquarters in Brasilia.

Vietnam is the second largest importer of Brazilian cotton. Its ambassador to Brazil Pham Thi Kim Hoa was impressed by the sustainable production process and the quality of the fibre, the company said in a press release.

At the farm, the envoys also saw the preserved forest areas, the processes and the planning at each stage from production through to storage.
