Cotton spinners of Mexico are suffering from weak demand for yarn.

Downstream users face loss of market share in the US cotton apparel market.

One small source of demand has been exports shipments of cotton yarn to the US market.

With a slump in export demand in 2005, about $74.94 million of exports to the US markets were registered in 2004.

Pakistan is the major exporter of cotton yarn to the US. Further reduction in textile production of the US has downsized the cotton fabric production.

Exports of cotton yarn declined 17.5 percent to US $3.062 million in October. From January to October, exports dropped 38.5 percent to US $41.077 million.
