The summer rain responsible for the previous year's plentiful harvest during Bourke's cotton season, is once again round the corner.
Factors responsible for the best yield are the availability of water.
Yield of 10 bales a hectare in the area was registered last year, and in anticipation, 5,000 hectares have been irrigated this year.
Majority of the farms would require water before the growing season ends, said Ian Cole, Chairman of local irrigation group Darling River Food and Fibre.
