Cotton prices progressed as Karachi Cotton Association reveals its spot rates at Rs2475 per maund. This shows an increase of Rs75 since yesterday.
Transactions took place at several cotton stations as follows:
Around 1600 bales changed hands at APE 2500, 700 at Alipur Rs2500, 1000 bales at JPP Rs2500, 1000 at LQP Rs2500, 3000 at Multan Rs2500, 6900 at RYK Rs2575, 1500 bales at RYK Rs2450/2500, 5000 bales at Upper Sindh Rs2465/2500.
In the coming few weeks about 2 million cotton bales are liekly to be imported from India, neghbouring countries and fromt the US, reliable sources inform.
New York Cotton Futures Market Closing Delivery for March and May 2006 is out.
Opening price for March 2006 will be $55.90, high and low levels will be $56.01 and $55.70 respectively, previous rate will be $55.93 and will close at $55.99. This shows an increase of $0.06.
While in May 2006, opening price will be $57.10, high and low levels were $57.20 and $56.90 respectively; previous rate will be $57.07 and will close at $55.99. This reveals a decrease of $0.08.
According to Cotlook Indices, A – Index stood at 59.20 and B – Index was recorded at 57.25 as of January 17, 2005.
