Italy recorded a sharp decline in its cotton spinning output in December 2005.
Cotton yarn output dropped to 53.7 index (2000=100), 13.1 percent lower than in December 2004.
The downtrend continued in the fourth quarter of the year with total cotton fabric output sliding down 17.2 percent in December, representing a 7.0 percent fall in the whole year.
Situation is not expected to get better as the cotton consumption is expected to lower further in 2006.
