Cotton farmers were in an agitated mood after hearing that CCI (Cotton Corporation of India) officials refused to accede to the MSP (Minimum Support Price) of Rs1,936 per quintal for their produce.
An annoyed mob came on the road and launched 'Rasta Roko' movement at Punjab Chowk on NH – 7 for four hours.
They reached the Adilabad market committee with their produce. But when the officials of the (CCI) reduced the price from Rs1,936 to Rs1,750, they were disappointed.
Some of them also requested CCI for MSP of Rs1,936, saying that CCI had bought cotton for the same price four days back.
Farmers were pacified and withdrew the movement when Joint Collector promised them to fulfill their demand.
