Cotton information provider Cotton Incorporated announced that in order to better achieve its mission of increasing the demand for and profitability of cotton, Cotton Incorporated has formed a new division, Global Product Supply Chain, based at the company's world headquarters in Cary, North Carolina.

The new division will integrate the company's Textile Research, Global Product Marketing, Fashion Marketing and Strategic Planning divisions, and will leverage the expertise of each to respond to global industry needs.

The Global Product Supply Chain division will be led by Mark Messura, who has been promoted to executive vice president. Previously, Mr Messura was vice president, Strategic Planning for the company.

“By repositioning certain departments, we are able to be more flexible and responsive to the rapidly changing global market,” says J Berrye Worsham, President and CEO.

“We need to better link and prioritize the research developments with the worldwide implementation of those services. Bringing it all under one division will help us do that. Mark's experience in strategic planning makes him uniquely qualified for this position.”

As vice president for Strategic Planning, Mr. Messura managed the programs in fiber economics research, consumer and market research and corporate planning for Cotton Incorporated. In addition to his role with the company, Messura also currently serves as Vice Chairman of the International Forum for Cotton Promotion.

Prior to joining Cotton Incorporated in 1994, Messura served as director of policy and programs for the North Carolina Rural Economic Development Center and as associate director of the North Carolina Board of Science and Technology. He earned a B.A. from the University of Michigan in Economics/Political Science and an M.A. in Policy Analysis from Duke University.
