Whoever wishes to make some extra money can participate in the reaping of this year's cotton crop.
Harvesting of the 2006 season has started on most farms; however, according to Chairman of the Barbados Cotton Growers Association (BCGA), Oliver Agard, there is need for additional workers to expedite this year's crop.
To this end, persons interested in picking cotton are asked to contact mangers or supervisors at the various farms across the island in order to receive general information on cotton picking and handling, collect adequate bags for harvesting, and to ascertain directions on the location of the cotton farms. Where necessary, transportation may also be arranged to farms.
"Unemployed persons, those who want to earn money in their spare time and youth groups and clubs who want to raise funds are the types of persons we are targeting," Agard stressed.
Agard is also Manager for Area I which includes the Broomfield, Rock Hall and Redland farms.
Also falling into the Area I catchment are the Castle & Lamberts, Chapel, Todds and Wakefield farms.
