Monthly cotton imports declined in March this year, with the US imports dropping almost 46.2 percent as compared to same period last year and reached around 50,597 bales.
Australian cotton imports were pegged at 27,267 bales while African Franc Zone imports reach 19,618 bales mark.
However, Indian cotton imports represented a significant growth to 10,919 bales.
Total cotton imports however reached 144,112 bales.
Cumulative August 2005 through March 2006 cotton import volume recorded a 26.9 percent year-on-year fall at 1,162,680 bales.
The US remained top importer at 285,013 bales followed by Australia and African Franc Zone at 260,325 bales and 203,721 bales, respectively.
