The International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC) anticipates a two percent rise in worldwide cotton consumption to 109 million cotton bales in the 2005-06 year due to higher increase in textile output in China
As per the report of ICAC, world consumption is expected to rise at a record of 23.7 million tons or 109 million bales in 2005-06, up half a million tons or 2 percent.
Cotton consumption in China is likely to reach 8.6 million tons in 2005-06, up 5 percent on this season and exceeding anticipated production by 2.8 million tons.
The ICAC estimated in May, a 10 percent decline to drop below 108 million bales across the world compared to the 119.3 million bales produced last year in world cotton production during the current season and predicted all cotton producing countries including Pakistan to bear the brunt of the fall in production.
