Rainfall hinders harvest of Missouri's cotton crops

As per USDA's crop progress report, just 64 percent of Missouri's cotton crop has been reaped till November 5, 2006 as against the five year average of 78 percent. By this time 96 percent of cotton crop had been reaped in Missouri last year, so harvest has slowed down this year.
Throughout the previous weeks of harvesting season, heavy rains have delayed reaping activities of cotton producers.
Harvesting is almost over with 99 percent crops reaped in Mississippi and 96 percent in Louisiana, whereas it is advancing with 81 percent in Arkansas and 74 percent in Tennessee. As per the report, total 59 percent of US' cotton crops have been reaped till November 5.
