Over the dispute of genetically engineered and modified food, farmers in Tamil Nadu have decided to take things into their own hand.
About 200 farmers went on rampage to destroy genetically engineered and modified food which has been tried on test basis in this region.
According to farmers they don't want to repeat history of farmers who used Bt cotton seeds. The land in the Alandurai district, is one of the 10 locations across the country where varieties of Bt rice field trial are being carried out, was leased out to Mahyco-Monsanto.
The high cost of Bt seed and increased cost of production compel farmers to commit suicide.
