Against last seasons export of 2.91 lakh bales, the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has proposed to export eight lakh cotton bales during October 2005-September 2006, informed Sudripta Roy, Joint Secretary of Union Ministry of Textiles.
About the Technology Mission on Cotton (TMC), the textile ministry was supervising the third and fourth stage, of the four stages of research advancement on marketing yards, ginning, and processing, for which 487 applications have been received so far, conveyed Roy.
Following the orders of the ministry, a rating agency Crisil, would assess the performance and utilisation on TMC and present its report within three months to the Government to take policy decision to realise the goal before 2007.
Remodelling of 250 marketing yards under active consideration of the Government under the scheme titled Marketing Yard Modernisation Programme.
Already, 112 yards have been remodelled and further 250 yards would be remodelled before 2007.
