Improved ginning machine developed by joint efforts

Its been a long time since Eli Whitney first invented the saw gin in 1794.

Thereafter, with continuous research and innovation saw-ginning machinery has undergone a sea change enabling cotton ginners to efficiently clean cotton fibres from seeds.

Task Force specially set up by the Ministry for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives under the Chairmanship of Masood A Majeed, Executive Director, Bismillah Cotton (Pvt) Ltd, Bahalwalpur, has developed improved version of ginning machinery.

The new saw gin designed by experts in PITAC and AMRI employing CAD system, has increased width of 2169 mm from 1830 mm with 124 numbers of saw blades, up from 90 in the earlier version.

Rib width has been retained at 14 mm, while its width varies from 15.5mm to 17.25mm.

The Task Force also involed other parties like Ministry of Textile Industry, Punjab Agriculture Department, SMEDA, EDB, two private companies who actively participated in the development of ginning machinery and manufacturing of various parts.

This machinery will be inaugurated by Federal Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives, Jahangir Khan Tareen on December 13 in Bahawalpur.
