The footwear industry has earned US $330 million in the month of April this year, showing a rise of 5.4 percent over previous month and an increase of 17 percent year-on-year.
Experts from Vietnam Leather and Shoe Association (LEFASO), opine that such a good result can be attributed to the strengthening of US Dollar, against Vietnamese currency, which has helped in boosting the export situation for the country.
During the first four months of the ongoing year, the exports turnover reached $1.35 billion, a year–on–year surge of 15.7 percent, accounting for near about 30 percent of its target for the present year which is $4.5 billion.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade, advises that enterprises from now on, must focus on manufacturing of high–value products, to be exported to traditional US and EU markets, while seeking newer markets of Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Middle East.
